Our Doctors

Dr. Brueggemann was born in Enid, OK and immigrated to Texas early in life.  He attended Texas A&M  where he earned a degree in Nutritional Science.  Not ready to join the workforce quite yet, Dr. Brueggemann decided to next attend the University of Houston College of Optometry.  At UHCO, Dr. Brueggemann worked with Scott Stevenson, PhD on many projects, including research aimed at early detection of optic nerve demyelinating diseases like Multiple Sclerosis.  Externship training in Houston provided Dr. Brueggemann with a thorough background in ocular disease treatment.  Next was an externship at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma.  This site is unique in that it enabled Dr. Brueggemann to gain experience performing surgical procedures that optometrists are not allowed to perform in Texas.  His final externship rotation landed him in Austin working at a family clinic.  It was here that Dr. Brueggemann honed his skills as a refractionist (that is, determining eye glass and contact lens prescriptions), as well as treating the occasional red eye.  Dr. Brueggemann stayed in Austin after the externship, and began working all over the Austin area as a relief doctor (a doctor that fills in at other doctors’ clinics).  You may have met him as far south as Buda, or as far north as Georgetown, or anywhere in between.  When Dr. Brueggemann is not working, he likes to read Sci-Fi novels,  play golf, and hike.
